My Sunday Routine for a More Organized Week

I’ve learned that if I want my week to feel less chaotic, it starts on Sunday.

As a stay-at-home mom and remote worker, I know that no amount of planning can make a week go perfectly. Kids get sick, plans change, and unexpected things come up. But having a simple Sunday routine helps me start the week feeling prepared instead of overwhelmed.

This isn’t a strict schedule or some perfect productivity system—it’s simply what works for me.

1. Review the Upcoming Week

The first thing I do is sit down with my planner/agenda and look at the week ahead.

I check appointments, deadlines, family activities, and anything else that needs my attention. Seeing everything laid out in one place helps me avoid surprises and gives me a better idea of what the week will look like.

2. Make a Weekly To-Do List

Once I know what’s coming up, I create a list of things I want to accomplish during the week.

I don’t worry about assigning everything to a specific day yet. I simply make a master list of tasks so I can see what needs to get done.

3. Plan Meals and Groceries

This step saves me so much stress during the week.

I make a rough meal plan, check what we already have at home, and create a grocery list. Having meals planned ahead of time means fewer last-minute decisions and fewer trips to the store. I also plan which day I will go buy the groceries.

4. Prep Activities for the Kids

Since I work from home with two young children, I like to make sure I have a few activities ready to go.

I might set out coloring books, rotate some toys, organize puzzles, or make sure we have enough supplies for the week. Having activities prepared ahead of time helps make my workdays run more smoothly.

5. Set My Priorities

One thing I’ve learned is that not everything can be a priority.

Before the week begins, I choose a few things that are most important—whether that’s a work project, a household task, or a family commitment. Having clear priorities helps me stay focused when life inevitably gets busy.

How do you like to organize and plan your week? I would love to hear from you!
